Jumping Spider by NoviceOfAnimation Jumping Spider by NoviceOfAnimation
I meet this little fella in the bathroom by accident.
I then stormed to my room to grab my gear and shoot this tiny beauty (7mm across)

Thank you very much
The little beauty was photographed using my kit lens and extension tubes, but now I have gotten myself a 1:1 Tamron lens (the latest model). So now I should hopefully be able to produce even better images of the spiders around me :D

Cool, the little unusual blue background gives a nice contrast.

That was a lucky coincidence, the little fella happened to jump down unto the mat in the bathroom, which then worked as a background for the shot :)

You mean the cannibalism after mating? I'm aware of that.
So does the Praying Mantis and many spider species :)

I ate one once in front of an old girlfriend who was afraid of them, thinking I was making a point that they are not so scary... tasted awful, will never do that again.

Oh my. o: Jumping spiders are usually pretty chill with humans are curious little buggers. We've got plenty of them around where I live and they have a tendency of trying to jump onto my hands when I get close.

Haha. They're cute when they want to be.

I'm from the southeast US, in Georgia. So we've got lots of different spiders here, thanks to the fact that we're bordered by two different semi-tropical states.

You guys got a lot of diversity compared to my tiny island, it could be interesting to go to the states someday.

Yeeeah.. There are a lot of interesting insects, arachnids and the like, here. We've also got a weird plethora of snakes, although I don't see a lot around here right where I live. Mostly just Garter and Rat snakes. We sometimes get copperheads or the very rare boa that's escaped.

As for snakes, we only got 2 species of snakes at my island and you rarely see them :( (Sad)
And our deadliest creature is a tiny bloodsucking tick which sometimes carry a disease which can cause paralysis.

Wow! Great shot here. The lighting is excellent and the blue background contrasts nicely with the spider. Clap

I used an external flash mounted with a wireless trigger and small softbox.
The blue background is a fluffy mat on the bathroom floor :D (Big Grin)

I took 2 shots of it on a red towel too, but that didn't separate the spider from the background very well No, I disagree!
